B.A Geology, University of Oxford, 1976 Worked as a geologist and manager in the oil industry for c.20 years. M.Sc Environmental Management, University of Strathclyde, 1996 Worked for c.15 years in Local Government in Scotland. Various managerial roles including Sustainable Development, Planning, Housing, IT, Corporate Planning, Financial & Performance Management. Retired in 2011. Author of ‘A Guide to the Geology of Islay’. Currently undertaking geological research on Islay for Masters Degree. Member of Glasgow Geological Society since 1992, currently a Council Member (Meetings Secretary). Trustee and Secretary of Islay Natural History Trust – a charitable trust which runs a museum on Islay and undertakes outreach activities such as geological excursions Member of Strathclyde Geoconservation Group. Member of Fossil Grove Trust and Advisory Group.
