Chalk Group Lithostratigraphy: Northern England - Lower Pink Band

A band of locally pink or brick-red coloured chalk (caused by secondary geochemical changes), comprising marly, nodular chalk (Gaunt et al., 1992), which Whitham (1991) noted typically weathered into small cubes. The rich brachiopod fauna includes abundant Terebratulina.
