Chalk Group Lithostratigraphy: Northern England - East Nook Marls
Whitham (1993) described a single East Nook Marl (=East Nook Marl 1), comprising a grey, silty/chalky marl, c. 20-30 mm thick, marking the base of the Danes Dyke Member. Subsequently, Mitchell (1994) recognised two other marls in the group (East Nook Marls 2 & 3), and showed that the South Cliff Marl of Whitham (1993), was correlative with East Nook Marl 1.
