The Plenus Marls of East Anglia are generally as described for the Southern Region, but much attenuated, especially in north Norfolk. In the Bury St Edmunds district they are usually less than a metre thick, and in north Norfolk generally comprise just a few centimetres of marl and marly chalk (Bristow, 1990; Gallois, 1994).
