Base: The zone is defined by the total range of the index species (Gale, 1996).

Correlation: The zone is presumably equivalent to the M. nodosoides Zone of Wright & Kennedy (1981), and equates with the middle and higher parts of the Mytiloides spp. Zone of the standard macrofossil zonal scheme.

Occurrence: The zone occurs in southern England, the index first appearing at the Compton Pebble Marl, which is c. 14 m above the top of the Plenus Marls at Beachy Head (Gale, 1996).
