Base: The zone is defined by the total range of the index species (Gale, 1996).

Correlation: The zone equates with the middle and higher parts of the W. coloradoense Zone of Wright & Kennedy (1981), and with the P. flexuosum and V. birchbyi zones in the western USA (Gale, 1996). In the standard macrofossil zonal scheme for the UK, the zone equates with a thin interval near the base of the Mytiloides spp. Zone.

Occurrence: Common in southern England, in a flaser bed associated with the ammonite Lewesiceras peramplum and abundant microcrinoids (Roveacrinus communis) (Gale, 1996).
