Sector wide funding from GoU (for <u>all</u> water and environment activities) has remained relatively stable at ~ 3% of the national budget over the last six years (MWE, 2017<ref name="mwe2017">MWE (2017) Sector Performance Report 2017, Ministry of Water and Environment, Government of Uganda. It is from this funding that DLGs receive their conditional grants for RWS; in the financial year 2016/17, these totaled UGX 52.94 billion<ref group=note>US$ 14.62 million</ref><br />

Alongside this, CSOs spent UGX 21.03 billion<ref group=note>US$ 5.8 million</ref>on water supply in the financial year 2016/17, UGX 12.29 billion<ref group=note>US$ 3.4 million</ref>of which was spent on deep borehole construction (MWE, 2017<ref name="mwe2017"></ref>).<br />
[[Figure 3.1]] shows the number deep boreholes constructed from financial year 2010/11–2016/17. In the financial year 2016/17, 68% of new deep boreholes were constructed under DLG projects, while 32% were constructed under CSO projects.<br />
