The Moyne Moor Lava Member is part of the [[Clyde Plateau Volcanic Formation]].

=== Name ===

=== Lithology ===
The Moyne Moor Lava Member consists of plagioclase-phyric trachybasalt (hawaiite) with discrete subordinate alkali basalt and rare basaltic-trachyandesite (mugearite) near the top of the member. These may represent the initiation of the more evolved trachytic volcanism of the overlying [[Harelaw Lava Member]].

=== Stratotype ===
The type area is the Dunlop–Eaglesham moors between Glasgow, Kilmarnock and Hamilton, irregularly shaped, but in continuous outcrop from Balgray Reservoir (NS 5100 5700) to Over Auchentibber Farm (NS 4560 4980).

=== Lower and upper boundaries ===
The member rests upon and is interbedded with the [[Lower Flow Moss Lava Member]] in the south but elsewhere its base is possibly unconformable on the sedimentary strata of the [[Ballagan Formation]] ([[Inverclyde Group]]) but the contact is not seen due to faulting.

The member is overlain by the geographically separate (and laterally equivalent) alkali basalts of the [[Eaglesham Lava Member]] and the [[Neilston Lava Member]] and the trachytic [[Harelaw Lava Member]]. The contacts are considered conformable, but may also be locally unconformable.

More than 100 m.

=== Distribution and regional correlation ===
Dunlop–Eaglesham moors between Glasgow, Kilmarnock and Hamilton, irregularly shaped, but continuous outcrop from Balgray Reservoir (NS 5100 5700) to Over Auchentibber Farm (NS 4560 4980).
