Although xenolith assemblages in igneous rocks can provide direct information on magma sources, and/or the mantle and crust through which magmas have travelled from depth, there are no such materials available for the Aberfoyle area itself.<br /> <br /> The gravity and magnetic data reflect the densities and magnetic properties of the rocks arising from their compositions.
