	At Folkestone, the sequence boundary at the base of Cenomanian 1 is the unconformity between the Gault and the Chalk Group, and the overlying Glauconitic Marl is a condensed transgressive sequence tract (Gale et al., 1996). A maximum flooding surface occurs at the base of the ''S. schlueteri'' Subzone, and the top of the sequence is a limestone (= 'M3' of Gale, 1989) with abundant specimens of the ammonite ''Schloenbachia ''(Gale et al., 1999).
