Summary

description
English: Figure 26.3. Possible explanation of the metamorphic sole to the ophiolite. A an arc, because of changes in the location and sense of subduction, is driven towards the source of the plate which created it. In colliding with the under-riding plate it underplates onto it the high pressure rocks belonging to this oceanic plate (B). But only fragments of this plate are accreted to the sole of the arc (C).
